6 Tips and Tricks for Cleaning Oven Glass

Remember: Each oven (and mess!) is unique, so various techniques will work better than others. With that in mind, here are some of the most helpful tips and tricks of the trade that can help you achieve the cleanest oven glass possible.

  • Use oven liners at the bottom of your oven to help catch spills and drips. This eliminates the need to clean!  Also, try not to open  the oven door too often to keep the steam from causing a baked on mess.
  • Remove the door from the oven. This will make cleaning more convenient.  Here’s a great tutorial by GE on how to remove a door…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzdRBcXFhsc&t=77s

*FYI- Not all oven doors remove, so you may need to research your particular brand for help.

  • Clean on a schedule. About every 3-6 months depending on how much you cook.
  • If using a spray on oven cleaner, be sure to wrap a large plastic garbage bag around it to keep it from evaporating while soaking. Also, be sure not to spray indoors as the fumes can be toxic to breathe.
  • Always consult your oven’s instruction manual for the best cleaning and maintenance guidelines to achieve the most desirable results.
  • Clean the inside glass too!  Here’s a little tutorial on how to disassemble the glass of your glass door, but be sure NOT to do this until your warranty expires as this may void your warranty…..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzdRBcXFhsc&t=7s

For simple grease: Use a mixture of Blue Dawn, baking soda & vinegar.

For stubborn grease: Spray with a commercial degreaser, allow it to sit for a few minutes, then wipe with a damp cloth.

For caked-on grime: A paste of baking soda and water can be applied and left for a while before scrubbing.
