Please Take Your Shoes Off Before Entering the Home

Think about all the places your feet take you… gas pumps, Walmart, parking lots, dog parks, public restrooms, etc.  Seriously, you do not want to walk all that stuff into your home where the baby is crawling or wear you bare feet walk on just before crawling into your bedsheets…ewe!  So if you need more details on exactly what scientists say your shoes track into your home, read on….

1. Millions of bacteria

That’s a bunch of germ critters & those guys can live on your floors for DAYS and then some. And, don’t we all touch our faces after lounging on the floor, playing with the kids, watching tv, or a little yoga stretch.  Once you touch your face, those germs can get inside your body.  Think about that.

Some of the little critters that scientists find on the bottoms of your stompers include some pretty serious bacteria like:

2. Lead

This heavy metal can affect your brain, other vital organs & nerves, especially babies & children.  Some common places for lead is in lead-based paint in older homes which chips off over time then turns to dust.  It is too easy to go unseen as you walk through the dust then bring it into YOUR home & onto your floors where the kiddos play.

3. Outdoor allergens

You can close your windows all day long or run an air purifier to help with your allergies, but the shoes bring this stuff indoors against all your efforts.

4. Hazardous chemicals

Fertilizers, pesticides and insecticides from your yard, or your neighbor’s yard come in on your shoes and pose several health risks.  You may also be picking up asphalt chemicals by walking on roads & parking lots.

Check out this video.  I love how she explains it… https://www.youtube.com/shorts/hBJH67N_YQ0  So now you need to persuade your guests to do the same thing.

How to Send a Message to Your Guests Before They Come in:

Post a cute sign at your front door, like one of these.

You can also let your guest wear shoes covers, but some germs are still going to get through. Your guests can also use a disinfectant spray or use a wipe for their shoes.
Maybe provide some slippers or socks for your guests while they are visiting.  You can always leave a disinfecting spray for the next visitor wearing the previous visitors slippers.

Just remember it is YOUR HOME and if you want to keep yourself and your loved ones safe just make it happen.  I do!
