How to Prepare Your Home Before Guests Arrive for the Holidays

The holidays are almost here! That means there will be a lot to do, and a lot to clean.

If you are having guests over to your home for Thanksgiving or Christmas, take a look at this helpful list of tasks that you can use to help you stay on schedule before your company arrives. This list may help you stay organized, or even offer some new ideas to help you prepare your home ahead of time.

Home Prep Checklist:

 

Living areas

Declutter bookshelves, mantles, and tables

Dust all surfaces and blinds

Put out seasonal decorations

Vacuum all carpets and rugs

Clean sofa and fabric. Clean under sofa cushions

Keep magazines handy for guests to read

Write down the login and password to your Wi-Fi on a small card

 

Bathrooms

Remove your personal items from the bathroom

Stock up on toilet paper and toiletries

Have clean towels and washcloths easily accessible

Clean the shower, glass doors, tub, toilet, and mirror.

Wash the rugs & dust the blinds

Check the shower liner or replace it if needed

Add a plunger and add some air freshener

Mop the floor

 

Kitchen

Create a coffee station so that it is easy for them to find the supplies they need

Clean all the counters and behind the small appliances

Clean the refrigerator inside and out

Mop the floor

 

Guest bedrooms

Wash all linens, including the bedspread or comforter (dry clean if needed)

Add extra pillows and an extra blanket

Make sure the closet has extra space to hang up their clothes (move personal items)

Dust the blinds, the dresser, and nightstand

*Add a nightlight to the hallway and bathrooms
